Southern France is rugby heaven.
The rugby union season in France runs from September to May. There are hundreds of clubs divided into various divisions. There are two professional divisions; Top 14 and Pro D2 (effectively 1st and 2nd Divsion) then Federale 1, 2 and 3 and so on. Most of the leading French clubs are concentrated in the southwest of France. The Top 14 Club Final is held in Paris in late May each year. The Heineken Cup involves some of the Top 14 teams. Rugby Union is part of the fabric of the Southwest of France so take the opportunity to catch a local match. Google Map below showing French rugby clubs: Top 14 red and Pro D2 yellow. |
