Items prohibited for carry on luggage

Dont over pack as you will probably buy some clothes over there.

Keep your checked luggage to 20kgs and your cabin luggage to 5kg

Make sure your bag does not exceed the generally accepted size of 56 cm long by 45 cm wide by 25 cm deep.

Check your airline as to their excess baggage policy and rates before you leave

Qantas currently charges AUD48 per kilo for the European route while Emirates charge a whopping 50 Euro per kilo from Europe to Australia and New Zealand.

Get a taxi, public transport or a friend to drop you at the airport.

Dress in loose comfortable clothing and footwear and bring something warm to wear

A good book and an ipod can help pass the time. Ipods are good for blocking out the noise of screaming kids.

Drink plenty of water and go easy on the alcohol even if it's free

Move around in the cabin every couple of hours

On arrival ensure you have your immigration forms properly completed and your travel documents ready for inspection.
