Check your airline as to their excess baggage policy and rates before you leave.

Qantas currently charges AUD48 per kilo for the European route while Emirates charge a whopping 50 Euro per kilo from Europe to Australia and New Zealand.

La Poste - the French post office has economy international packages for up to 30kg delivered within 4 weeks to your door. A 30kg parcel will cost around 170 Euro. They have a calculator for working out costs based on weight and destination.

Both Australia and New Zealand have very strict bio-security measures to protect agriculture.

To be on the safe side dont bring food of any kind back with you.

If you have been walking in rural areas, clean your shoes thoroughly or declare them to quarantine at the airport.

Tax issues and refunds

Claim nearly 20% back on some purchases made in France.

If you purchase an item in France for more than 175 Euro that for your own use and carried in your own luggage you may claim back the VAT which is similar to the GST but 19.6% in France.
