France has the four seasons of Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn but they are the opposite time of the year from the Southern Hemisphere. France is large by European standards with significant mountain ranges and a considerable coastline which provides climatic variations. Northern and northwestern France has a climate that is similar to Britain. Southern France has a Mediterranean climate and is warmer than the north, particularly in summer. 
France can be divided into five general climatic regions: Northern and Northwestern France: Paris, Nord-pas-de-Calais, Picardie, Champagne-Ardenne, Normandie, Centre Southwestern France: Poitou-Charente, Aquitaine, Midi-Pyrenees Central and Eastern France: Auvergne, Limousin, Burgundy The Mediterranean Coast and Corsica: lower regions of Languedoc-Rousillon, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, Corsica The Mountainous Regions: Frenc Alpes, Massif Central, high Pyrenees, Jura Summer: June, July, August Autumn: September, October, November Winter: December, January, February Spring: March, April, May |
